First of all, just what is Oakville, MO and where is it? Oakville, MO Is a Neighborhood/Community located in the southeastern section of unincorporated St. Louis County, Missouri. We are NOT a township or incorporated city as some might think. Both the history and the boundaries of Oakville are subject to discussion. We will not debate any variances but will attempt to provide an overall and general description. Oakville, MO is actually called a Designated-Census Place ( DCP ).The actual borders of the area have changed over the years, but generally, accepted boundaries are the Mississippi and Meramec Rivers to the East and South and Interstate 255 and 55 to the North and West. For years Lemay Ferry Road and Lindbergh served as the borders before the Interstate highways were constructed.
Oakville, MO has an estimated population of 51,500. It is evenly split between male and female. Our population density is 2400 per square mile and our median age is 39. If Oakville, MO were an incorporated city we would be the largest in St. Louis County ( maybe tied with Florissant). We would also be one of the top dozen or so in the State in terms of population. We were not able to ascertain the exact numbers of businesses located inside Oakville. There are hundreds of businesses located on the main business corridors of Telegraph Rd. and Lemay Ferry Rd. as well as the various business park areas on New Baumgartner Rd. and Meramec Bottom Rd. In addition, there are hundreds of small businesses located throughout 63129 who choose not to have a traditional office and operate largely as a home based enterprise.
